What's New in IACRA

 
New!September 3, 2008

IACRA Version 6.3 released.

This release contains the following changes:

  1. CFI Renewal Grace Period – CACFI and RI roles in IACRA will no longer be restricted in IACRA based on an expired CFI certificate during the 120-day grace period if the user has a pending renewal in IACRA or has renewed on paper.
  2. ATP & Aircraft Dispatcher Signatures – An intermittent problem with ATP and Aircraft Dispatcher signatures has been corrected.
  3. Remove Dual Citizenship Question – Users will no longer be asked if they hold dual citizenship. The user will only select their citizenship country. If the selected country is USA, USA Citizen will be indicated on the 8710. If the user selects any other country, “other” will be selected under citizenship on the 8710 and the accompanying blank will indicate the country the user selected.
  4. Blank Page Removal – Users viewing and printing and IACRA forms will no longer be presented with pages that are completely blank except for the text “This page intentionally left blank”.
  5. Accept Only USA Driver’s License – IACRA will no longer accept a non-USA driver’s license as a valid form of identification.
  6. Increase Font Size in 8710 – The contents of key fields on the 8710 will now be rendered by IACRA in a larger font size in order to increase readability.

IACRA Version 6.2 released.

This release contains the following changes:

  1. The look and feel of the IACRA home page were updated along with other IACRA public pages.
  2. Users may now log in directly from the IACRA home page.
  3. A site feedback feature has been added allowing users to quickly and easily enter comments about the IACRA site.
  4. Users that have not added security questions to their registration will be prompted to do so at login.
  5. A password strength indicator has been added to the registration page.
  6. A Training and Documentation page has been added that includes help and training information.

IACRA Version 6.1.1 released.

This release contains the following changes:

  1. Removal of Aeronautical Experience Requirements for the following paths:
    1. FAR 61 Added Class Rating under Same Category
    2. Added Type Ratings (FAR 61, 141, 142)
    3. FAR 121 Issuance Types: Initial, Upgrade, Transition
    4. FAR 61 Vintage Aircraft Authorization

  2. Exceptions to #1.a. above: LTA Balloon seeking an Airship added class rating

    Notes: This applies to Recreational, Private, Commercial, ATP FAR 61

  3. Correction to the CFI Checklist not displaying the checkmark after reviewing the knowledge test. If the checkmark is not displayed, the application cannot continue.

IACRA Version 6.1.0 released.

This release contains the following changes:

  1. Additional Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certifications:
    1. You can obtain a CFI certificate through a FAR 141 approved course
    2. You can obtain a CFI Instrument rating through a FAR 141 approved course
  2. Validation of the Commercial pilot hours. If required, all basis of application.
  3. IACRA places the English Proficiency limitation on the temporary airmen certificate
  4. Designated Pilot Examiners (DPE) will no longer be able to retrieve an application if the applicant is claiming dual citizenship
  5. Renovation of the Personal Information Page
    1. Applicants will not be allowed to exit the page if any required information is left blank.
    2. A validation box will appear at the top of the page informing the applicant of the validation errors.
    3. Addition of IACRA Tips
      1. These help tips coincide with the instructions on the 8710-1.
      2. These help tips can be turned on or off (default is off).
        1. Once turned on, the question mark icon to the left of a field can be clicked to show the instructions for that particular field
  6. Addition of the navigation path through the IACRA program.
    1. This path appears as a blue bar directly under the main heading tabs.
    2. The information contained includes
      1. Type of certificate (Pilot, Instructor, etc)
      2. Level of Certificate (ATP, Commercial, etc)
      3. Basis of Application (FAR 61, FAR 61.75, FAR 141, etc.)
      4. Type of Issuance (Original, Additional Rating, etc.)
  7. Addition of the information icon (Artificial Horizon), located on the right side the main heading tabs.
    1. By clicking on this icon, the user will be shown the role currently logged in as, their FTN number and the application ID.
  8. Renovation of the Main Heading Tabs
    1. Step 1 was changed to Personal Information
    2. Step 2 was changed to Certificate Sought
    3. Step 3 was changed to Certificate Held
    4. Step 4 was changed to Supplemental Data
    5. Step 5 was changed to Aeronautical Experience
    6. Step 6 was changed to Summary
  9. Renovation of the general look and feel
    1. IACRA was branded with the official FAA Header and Footer for web pages
    2. Pages are now centered on the computer monitor
    3. Previous and Next buttons have been added at the bottom of each page.
      1. The personal information page only contains a next button since it is the first page in the sequence.
  10. Renovation of the Knowledge Test Page
  11. Numerous Bug Fixes including but not limited to
    1. An Aviation Safety Inspector (ASI) can extend an applicant’s Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Knowledge Test
    2. Training Center Evaluator (TCE) issuance of ATP certificates and type ratings
    3. The addition of Flight Instructor Refreshed Course (FIRC) information on the 8710. The 8710 will show the curriculum plus the school.
    4. Aircraft Dispatcher temporary certificate missing the certificate Date of Issuance
    5. Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) path requiring aircraft registration number on the practical test page (no longer required)

IACRA Version 6.0.5 released.

This release contains the following changes:

  1. Users can now log in using only username and password.
  2. The paths on the path list page are now expandable/collapsible making it easier to drill down to specific paths.
  3. FAQ and What's New in IACRA previews have been added to the home page.

IACRA Version 6.0.3 released.

Pilot Hours Decimals – After the 6.0 release, when certain decimal values were entered in the pilot hours fields on Step 5, decimal values were incorrectly adjusted to be 0.01 less than the actual entered hours. 6.0.3 removes this adjustment.

IACRA Version 6.0.2 released.

CFI Expiration – Corrects an issue in which the submission date of an application is in one month and the CO final sign off occurs in the next. The expiration date on the temporary certificate incorrectly showed the submission month rather than the final sign off month as printed by the CO.

IACRA Version 6.0.1 released.

Spaces in Last Name – In the 6.0 release, requirements for the last name field on the Personal Information page were modified. As a part of this change, spaces were no longer allowed in the last name. 6.0.1 corrects this – spaces are once again allowed in the last name.

IACRA Version 6.0.0 released.

This release contains the following changes:

  1. Addition of the ReIssuance paths - You can reissue a pilot certificate based on removing limitation(s) -- or You can reissue a CFI certificate with a gold seal.
  2. Addition of the Second-in-Command path. The purpose is to add the SIC Privileges Only limitation to typeratings for pilots who are landing in foreign countries.
  3. Addition of the Flight Engineer path. The basis of application include standard, Foreign Based – FAR 63.42 and Special Purpose – FAR 63.23
  4. Validation of the ATP hours. If required, all basis of application.
  5. IACRA generated PTRS records will contain the practical test hours in the MISC field in the format G9.9/F9.9. Ground hours will include the oral portion of the practical test. The flight hours will include a sum of simulator / training device / flight check #1 / flight check #2 portion of the practical test.
  6. Issuance of a 61.75 Foreign Based Certificate with an instrument rating. This is for Private Pilot, original issuance.
  7. Security questions added to registration in order to aid in identity verification when users contact support central. Also allows users to change an email address even if he/she has forgotten the registration password.

IACRA Version 5.3.5 released.

This release contains the following changes:

  1. Registration and Login pages will now have the same look and feel of the IACRA home page
  2. Revised “Forgot Password” email – now includes user name, new password and email address
  3. FTN and username will now be emailed to user at time of registration
  4. Chief Flight Instructor with a Commercial Balloon Certificate and no Certified Flight Instructor Certificate can register as an RI to sign a Commercial Balloon application
  5. Changed the verbiage in Sport Pilot previously called the "Grandfather" Option to "Using Ultralight Hours"
  6. Instructor with a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate "In Category" can sign a Sport Pilot/Sport CFI application
  7. A DPE with a SPE designation "In Category" can sign a Sport Pilot application
  8. A DPE with a SPFIE designation "In Category" can sign a Sport CFI application
  9. A Flight Instructor can add an Initial Gold Seal to an existing Instructor Certificate
